Our Standards
Safety & Compliance
Chemical logistics requires a management system built around safety, regulatory compliance, environmental responsibility, and supply chain security — at every level of the operation.
Program Compliance
ACD Responsible Distribution
Meka operates in full alignment with the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) Responsible Distribution program — the chemical industry's most comprehensive environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) management standard for chemical distribution and transportation.
Responsible Distribution is not voluntary. It is a mandatory condition of ACD membership, third-party verified on a 3-year cycle by independent auditors. The program covers the full scope of EHS&S management — broader than ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 individually — and sets the benchmark that chemical producers and distributors require of their carrier partners.
For shippers, working with an RD-compliant carrier isn't just a preference — it's increasingly a requirement. Most major chemical manufacturers and ACD member distributors mandate Responsible Distribution compliance as a condition of doing business. Meka's commitment to the program means your supply chain meets the highest industry standard from warehouse to delivery point.
The program encompasses 12 Codes of Management Practice covering product stewardship, facility operations, carrier selection, emergency preparedness, community engagement, and more. Third-party verification audits evaluate not just documentation, but actual operational practices in the field.

How We Operate
Driver Qualification & Training
Every Meka driver holds both a HazMat endorsement and a Tanker endorsement on their CDL — all power unit operators, not just tanker drivers. Drivers receive training in hazardous materials handling, emergency response, and safe loading and unloading procedures specific to the chemical commodities they transport.
Dedicated Chemical Tank Equipment
Our stainless steel DOT 412 and DOT 407 tank trailers are rated for corrosive, hazardous, and non-hazardous liquid chemical transport. These are dedicated chemical service units — not repurposed general freight equipment. DOT-inspected and maintained on a documented schedule.
TWIC & Port Security
All Meka drivers operating at regulated port facilities hold a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) — the TSA-administered biometric credential required for unescorted access to secure port areas. TWIC compliance is a hiring requirement for port-capable Meka drivers.
Emergency Response Readiness
All HazMat loads are dispatched with current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and emergency response documentation. Drivers are trained in spill containment, evacuation protocols, and first responder coordination. 24/7 emergency response support available through CHEMTREC on all hazardous material shipments.
Regulatory Compliance
Meka holds active FMCSA Motor Carrier Authority (MC1129972), DOT HazMat Carrier Registration, and a DOT Mini-Bulk Permit (DOT 41212) for IBC container transport. Our USCG Approved Mobile Facility plan designation authorizes direct vessel-side delivery at 7 Florida ports. Compliance is verified — not assumed.
No Brokered Loads
Meka does not broker shipments to unknown carriers. Every load is run by a Meka driver in a Meka vehicle. When you hire Meka, you know exactly who is moving your chemical freight and that they meet our standards — because they are our people.
